Charity Night in aid of Action for A-T a great success!
More than 100 motor sports fans turned out on a frosty night to the Haslemere Hall to support the charity film night in aid of Action for A-T on Wednesday 24th February. This was a showing of ‘Pistons, Passions and Pleasures – a Sicilian Dream’, a film about the Targa Florio by Upfolds Media. To add a bit of set dressing for the evening the Hall’s lay-by was graced by the presence of a Fraser Nash Targa Florio replica and a D-type Jaguar, both from the Robert Lewis collection.
Dave Biggins, the film’s producer, entertained the audience with stories of the film’s genesis and production, John Markey of H&H Classics (co-sponsors of the evening) told of his experiences as a driver on the Targa at the end of the 1960s. In all the evening raised £1,000 for Action for A-T whose chief executive, Sean Kelly, thought it was a great evening and a different way of helping the charity’s coffers.
Thanks to all who supported the event, including fellow sponsor Thomas Brimblecombe of Classic Grand Touring who even now is planning “a Targa Tour” for next year for those who like classic cars to be driven and not just looked at in dusty museums.
Many thanks also to Howard Bicknell and all at the Haslemere Hall for supporting the event and helping me indulge my wish to see motor sports on the big screen.
