RETRO-FACT -A fact blog on the Retro Speed website quotes interesting information such as ……
The last Jaguar E-type was built in 1975. Of the 72,584 built, some 49,032 found their way to North America and 12,320 were registered in the UK. Just 15,481 original 3.8 cars were built, almost the same as those fitted with the V12 engine, while 22,908 left Brown’s Lane with the larger 4.2 litre engine. The final 49 Jaguar E-types were painted black.
To save confusion I’d like to add to that the final 50 were ‘Commemorative’ and carried a numbered plaque on the dash. Of those 50, 49 were black and one was British Racing Green.
