This month Xclusively Jaguar celebrates its 10th anniversary!
Welcome to the latest Xclusively Jaguar News Round Up!
This month’s cover picture features an X-type we saw in Berwick-upon-Tweed with tiger stripes!
Looking like it has just escaped from the cage behind it, we felt that it deserved a mention for innovative advertising!
Did they get a little confused between Jaguar markings and those of a tiger, or was it purposely meant to be a ‘Jaguar Tiger’? That we don’t know, but we did think it was well executed and very striking!
Just a word of thanks for the XK70 report in your newsletter.
All the best, Louise

FORTHCOMING EVENTS (….. AND REMINDERS !!!)
Jaguar Mark 4 to Mark 10 Day
Sunday 23rd September 2018
Nigel Webb would like to invite ALL owners of Mark 4 to Mark 10 Jaguar saloons to a day at his Mike Hawthorn Museum on Sunday 23rd September 2018.
This is NOT a club event – it is NOT JEC and it is NOT JDC –
it is a personal invitation, open to anyone who owns
one of the aforementioned cars and it transcends any car clubs.
Nigel Webb’s Mark 1 Days, held at The Mike Hawthorn Museum over the past few years have become exceedingly popular with record numbers of Mark 1 Jaguars attending on each occasion, so we would like to see a record gathering of Mark 4, Mark 5, Mark 7, Mark 8, Mark 9 and Mark 10 Jaguar saloons at this event.
The Mike Hawthorn Museum is a private museum and being allowed to visit is considered, by all those who have seen it, a rare privilege. The location is kept confidential, as far as is practicable, and therefore as an acknowledgement of this privilege and assurance of confidentiality, we in turn request your full contact details and a few details about your car to ensure that your interest is genuine and you do own a relevant car.
This also has the advantage that when phone numbers and email addresses get changed (as is often the case) we still have an old fashioned postal address to contact owners by as a last resort.
If you would like to be considered for an invitation, please contact Letitia@xclusively-jaguar.co.uk and further details of venue, directions, local B&B’s, start and finish time, with possible refreshments, entertainment and the attendance of Jaguar personalities etc will all be sent to you in due course.
This event is for Mark 4, Mark 5, Mark 7, Mark 8, Mark 9 and Mark 10 Jaguar saloon owners and their passengers ONLY. If you do not have an invitation, you will not be allowed entry on the day.
It is traditional for these events to be funded entirely by Nigel Webb, with no entry fee and merely a request for a donation to raise funds to replace the headstone on Mike Hawthorn’s grave.
The important point is to get the date marked in your diary and make sure your name is on the list!

‘Dump’ your “unfixable car” on the dealer? Not such a great idea really….
Parking up outside the main dealers with a vehicle daubed in complaints may be funny on the Huffington Post, but the legal issues are not so clear cut, says top London Legal Practice Healys’ Car Group head Clive Robertson.
If you are a private individual and you buy a new or used car from a dealership and experience problems with it, you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The Act states the car must be “of a satisfactory quality”, “fit for purpose” and “as described”. You have a right to reject something faulty and you are entitled to a full refund within 30 days of purchase in most cases.
Clive sets out the facts: “After 30 days you lose the short-term right to reject the goods. If the 30-day period has lapsed or during that time, you choose not to exercise your right to reject the goods, you will be entitled in the first instance to claim a repair or replacement. This remedy will be deemed a failure if, after one attempt at repair or replacement, the goods still do not meet the necessary requirements.”
Clearly an unhappy consumer needs to record dates and times, and make an accurate submission to both the trader and, ultimately if nothing works, a court.
Clive explains further: “If you are arguing with a trader over a rejection and end up taking your case to court, the court will take things like age and mileage into account when considering whether a fault is considered significant enough to reject the vehicle. If you bought the car with a warranty or guarantee, you may be able to claim on that to get any problems fixed. However, having a warranty or guarantee does not affect your legal rights. You could still either reject the car or claim against the dealer under the Consumer Rights Act.”
Healys best advice is:-
- Contact the dealer as soon as you are aware of the defects.
- Be firm and back up your statements with evidence, diaries and results.
- Be confident that the 2015 Consumer Rights Act will back you up, if you have genuine issues.
