For those who would like a little more, the Jaguar Drivers’ Club of Switzerland are also hosting a tour from Switzerland to Jaguar Classic Works at Ryton, Coventry and invite you to join them.

The Travel Program

The tour starts on 29th May in Switzerland, with a welcome, a drivers briefing, and distribution of maps, roadbooks, rally stickers, jackets and other goodies.

The journey includes a drive through the French  Jura and a visit to the impressive racing car museum in Le Mans, with the route leading participants over the public part of the original racetrack.

The first night of the tour will be spent in a country manor south of Paris, where guests will have their first dinner together. Many delightful surprises await those who choose to join this tour.

Boarding the ferry to cross The English Channel overnight,  10 luxury cabins have been reserved for participants.

A scenic tour with more spectacular driving takes participants through the southern part of the UK via the Cotswolds and includes a visit to Bourton on the Water and possibly Thruxton Racing Circuit, ending with a night in the Lygon Arms, where Oliver Cromwell once had laid his weary head to rest!

The Big Day

Saturday 1st June is the big day!

Celebrating the Mark 2 Diamond Jubilee at Jaguar Classic Works, which will include a tour of the workshops and the James Hull Collection.

At the end of the day participants retire to the Coombe Abbey Hotel.

The Sunday program will be released to participants in due course, but we recommend visits to Warwick Castle, The British Motor Museum and The Jaguar Collections Centre at Gaydon, or Coventry Cathedral.

Travel north via The Peak District to Hull with dinner on the ferry and overnight crossing back to the Continent.

A visit the private museum of the Mahy family, which also owns the National Automobile Museum of Belgium. This private museum can only be visited by invitation, as arranged in this instance by Georg Dönni, who went to school with Michel. From here everyone is free to take the active Ardennes route or to drive on the Diretissima to the Chateau de Faucon, for the last dinner of the tour!  Then back to Switzerland on Wednesday to our final destination, the well-kept Peugeot Museum in Sochaux.

Registration deadline was 31.12.2018 but may be extended at the discretion of Georg Dönni

A Mark 2 or derivative is preferred for this tour, but other Jaguars may be considered at the discretion of Georg Dönni

For further details on joining the tour, or the day at Jaguar Classic Works, and all information relating to the tour, please email tour host Georg Dönni

An interesting fact pointed out by Georg Dönni is that the Mark 2 was never referred to as a Mark II using Roman numerals in any of the official Jaguar literature, and yet we so often see this model incorrectly referred to as a Mark II, or even worse, a Mark 11 where even the Roman numerals are incorrect! (A Mark eleven indeed!)
