Thomas Ahlander is a watercolour artist who lives in Sweden and predominantly paints classic cars in a variety of styles and with differing backgrounds.
In the last five years I have commissioned two portraits of Brucie (my 1997 X330 4.0 Sovereign), one of Opium (my 1988 XJ40 3.6 Sovereign) and one of Rob Jenner’s 2007 Maserati Quattroporte V. I have always been impressed by the standard of Thomas Ahlander’s work.
Working with Thomas in deciding the best angles to portray the cars, I have been impressed by his attention to detail. Rather than simply reproducing the photo I sent as a painting, as I believe some artists do, Thomas requested numerous details about the cars in order to do some research of his own. He then created a sketch of the car in question from an angle which he felt would portray the car to best effect. He even asks for the paint code, in order to get the colour exact!
Thomas receives commissions worldwide and has a growing selection of Jaguar prints created from the original watercolours, which are shown below, and available for sale.
