Ron Gaudion

THE MAN WHO WON THEM ALL WITH D-TYPES AT LE MANS!

A brief introduction taken from Jaguar Magazine

Ron Gaudion keeps a low profile, but like Norman Dewis, he was involved with Jaguar’s 1950s racing team. He remains a huge supporter of Jaguar and is rightly proud of his past.

Ron is an Aussie from Melbourne who went to the UK on a working holiday in 1954 – and ended up building D-Types! In fact, he was the first person employed for that job.

He crewed Jaguar’s winning D-Type in 1955, then moved to Ecurie Ecosse for the 1956, 57 and early 58 seasons – prepareing the 1956 and 57 D-Types.

He is the only person to have a direct link to all three D-Type wins at Le Mans, and is a staunch member of the Gold Coast Register of the Jaguar Drivers Club of Queensland.

Ron met and married his Scottish born wife, May, while he worked for Ecurie Ecosse.

Ron Gaudion and Norman Dewis starred in edition #169 of Jaguar Magazine – pictures included one of Ron behind the Ecurie Ecosse D-Type at the presentation for the Le Mans win in 1956 with Peter Collins, Stirling Moss and Ron Flockhart.
