Nigel Webb very kindly hosted a another successful Jaguar Mark 1 Day at his home in the south of England, on 13th April 2014, the day after the second Mike Hawthorn Memorial Lunch of the year, which seemed a rather appropriate tribute, given Mike Hawthorns’ connection with the Mark 1 Jaguar!

As with Nigel’s Norman Dewis Celebration of last year, we were again blessed with perfect weather, which made everyone’s efforts worthwhile.

I recorded 43 Mark 1’s in attendance, and hope I didn’t miss any? If you were there and your car is not pictured below, please do get in touch. If you were unaware of the event, or unable to attend, I would love to hear from you.

As well as the Mark 1’s, the event was attended by many well known Jaguar personalities, including Ian Callum, Norman Dewis, Win Percy, Michael Quinn, Graham Searle, and several Jaguar Heritage officials.

Jaguar Cars Design Director, Ian Callum, came to admire the classic Mark 1 Jaguars, but took a particular liking to JEC General Manager Graham Searle’s Series 1 Jaguar XJ Saloon

Two white F-type’s, graced the lakeside, the coupe having been brought to the event by Michael Quinn, Managing Director of Creamer in London, and Sir William Lyons’ Grandson.

Racing driver, Win Percy, chats with Swiss Jaguar Specialist, Georg Donni, who had driven over from Switzerland in convoy with several other Mark 1 owners.

Norman Dewis, in thoughtful pose, retires from the stand as Nigel Webb takes over for a final round-up of the day and to thank everyone involved in its creation.

Feedback

Dear Letitia

Please pass on my gratitude to Nigel for hosting the fantastic event on Sunday. The number of MK1’s he managed to assemble was mind-blowing, and I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to speaking to fellow owners about their cars. Also please thank all concerned for the effort and work that was clearly put in to making the day run so smoothly. In particular do please pass on my sincerest thanks to all the staff for their friendly welcome and generosity of spirit – everyone had a smile on their face.

With best wishes – Steve Dismorr

Hi Letitia,

Just a note of very grateful thanks for the great day we had at Nigel`s on Sunday, it was absolutely fantastic, a proper garden party. Would you please pass on my thanks to Nigel, to see so many Jaguar Mark 1’s on the day was amazing, a tribute to your hard work.  Again many thanks to both you and Nigel for a day to remember.

Yours sincerely – Pete Craker

I would like to add my personal thanks to Nigel Webb for inviting to me to help in finding Mark 1 owners to attend the event and create a register of Mark 1 Jaguars.

Many thanks also to Wendy Berry, Nigel’s partner, who ably assisted and supported Nigel in this venture, and made everyone very welcome at their home in the South of England.

And to Jim Patten, many thanks for your promotion of the event via Jaguar World Monthly, which was invaluable!
