Early last year I was contacted by Sandra Berryman who told me that she and her husband, Keith, were planning to travel from their home in Australia, to the UK, for a holiday. Sandra asked me if I could advise her of a list of Jaguar and other motoring events during their stay. I kept her posted, as new events came to light in the South of England, and she gave me an idea of areas that she and Keith planned to visit. From this came the idea of meeting up for lunch, and the 23rd of August was agreed as a convenient date for both of us.
About this time, Win Percy was also in the UK, and I felt that lunch would be so much more exciting for Keith and Sandra if Win was to join us. Although I was aware that Keith was the longterm owner of XKD 526, one of only three D-types originally exported new to Australia in 1957, I had no idea that he had met and competed against Win at Bathurst many years ago.
I kept my surprise visitor a secret until we were in the Dorset pub where we met for lunch, and when Win walked through the door, there were smiles, exclamations of glee and a warm reunion! Keith and Win were so pleased to be re-united and lunch was a continuous recounting of very happy memories from many years ago, in a land far away!
