Sir Stirling Moss, flanked by Wendy and Den Carlow
Another memorable year for the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club at the NEC Classic Motor Show, where we were once again positioned next to the very impressive Jaguar Heritage stand. Last year their star car was the C-X16 – this year it was one of the 6 brand new Lightweight E-types!
Our own display cars included Colin Manconi’s XJ-S, Steve Cocks’ X-type saloon, Richard Butterworth’s Mark 1 in full race trim and Michael Jewell’s 1933 SS1 Coupe.
We were joined briefly by Sir Stirling Moss, and Den and Wendy Carlow. For those who do not know, Wendy works for Jaguar and Den is a Heritage volunteer who has contributed much detailed work on Jaguar production statistics.
Raffle car takings were up on last year and the winner of the draw was Louise Johns, the XK Coupe being presented to her by the JEC Chairman, Rob Jenner, the following week at the JEC XK Seminar which was held at the Jaguar Visitor Centre in Castle Bromwich.
We also signed up 85 new JEC members over the weekend, and would like to thank all those members who stopped by for coffee and a chat, and contributed to our chosen charity this year, which was the RNLI. If you haven’t bought raffle tickets, or contributed to this charity, there is still time next year, as we will again be supporting the RNLI next year and are well on target with our aim to purchase a lifeboat!
