1284 miles from new X300 Daimler

One day in November 2014 JEC Chairman, Rob Jenner  received a phonecall about an X300 Daimler Six in Scotland, which allegedly had only covered 2 or 3 thousand miles! As you can imagine we were very intrigued, even more so when we found out that it was barely an hour away, and jumped at the invitation to view it!

The story grew more intriguing by the minute ……….

Prior to last month, when the new owner made his purchase public, this Daimler was known to only a handful of people, and I was privileged to be one of them, but this story goes much further back than that!

Until late 2014 the Daimler in question was unknown to the world, having been purchased by a family in the north of Scotland, endowed with a personalised registration number from new, and meticulously stored for the full 20 years of its life – 1995 to 2015 !!

Ironically, the family who owned this Daimler were well known to Rob Jenner, and even he did not know of its existence, and the alleged mileage of 2 to 3 thousand miles, turned out to be a mere 1284, substantiated by all necessary documentation, presented in the same condition as the car itself!

Originally supplied by Appleyards Jaguar of Edinburgh (now Pentland) this 1995 model year short wheel base 4 litre Daimler, first registered on 20th April 1995, is finished in gleaming unmarked Flamenco Red (CFH) with Oatmeal  (AGD) Aniline hide. Already equipped to the usual high Daimler standard, this flagship model was ordered with a few extra cost options, too!

Forget all the ebay adverts which claim ‘mint condition’ – having seen this car myself, I can vouch for the fact that this one truly is! Too many times we see ultra low mileage cars offered for sale which have been poorly stored and have seriously deteriorated, rendering the low mileage of no real value. This car is one of the rare gems that looks as though it has just rolled off the production line at Brown’s Lane!

Alister Scott, who became the second custodian of this car in November last year,  wishes to enjoy  displaying his Daimler Six at Jaguar shows. Alister believes this is the lowest mileage X300 in existence, and he is happy to show his Daimler to anyone who wishes to contact him at Alister Scott
