Lenthall started the yellow XJS from the pit lane, having had to re-secure the bonnet, then proceeded to carve through the pack!
McGregor was so unlucky in finding a split hose whilst forming up in the Assembly Area. Cue more heroics as the car was rushed back to the paddock to be repaired. Lenthall started the yellow XJS from the pit lane having had to re-secure the bonnet, so he & Doyle (with new head gasket) started from the back. They both then proceeded to carve through the pack to finish 8th & 6th respectively. This earned Doyle ‘Drive of the Day’. At the start Howard again powered into the lead whilst Clarke & Ramm, after a race long battle, finished in that order. The McGregor hose replacement came to nothing when he retired on lap 3. Lewis again took Class B whilst Ben Walker, despite a 5 second penalty for exceeding track limits, won the standard class in the beautifully prepared XJS. Lawrence Coppock stopped on lap 6 with an oil leak rather spoiling a good weekend for him & son Richard.
Despite spinning, Doyle earnt ‘Drive of the Day’
