Cotswold Economy Drive 2017

The Cotswold Economy Drive will once again be taking over the delightful Evesham Hotel, for both the main event start and finish, on Sunday 20th August, plus the optional Saturday pre-rally evening dinner. Rooms, as usual, will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Our route for 2017 heads east, the choice of unspoiled lanes leading us to the fantastic Claydon Estate in Buckinghamshire, home of Nicholas and Alexandra Verney, where a picnic lunch plus a tour of the gardens has been arranged.

For those new to the event, it is very straightforward. All classic cars, and cars of special interest, are welcome and no special preparation or insurance is required. The challenge is based on estimated fuel consumption, a figure decided by the crew before the start. Nearest, after completing approximately 110 miles without penalty, wins a Gold medal, with Silver and Bronze for runners up. Junior navigators have their own awards.

No maps are required as the complete route is described in the specially prepared ‘tulip’ road book. The decision of the officials will always be final, although protests will be considered when accompanied by a non-returnable £50 note.
