Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust XJ220 Display

The Trust are fortunate to have two XJ220s in our Collection – the original concept car built by Jim Randle’s Saturday Club and car number 008 which was on display at Bloxham when Princess Diana visited the site. The Concept car had a fairly hard life being displayed all over the place and over the years collected a number of knocks, dings and scratches and the seats and carpets were well worn from hoards of people climbing in and out.  We have now had the car repainted and our volunteers have re-carpeted it and tidied up all the leather work back to show condition.  We have had the hydraulic struts tidied up and modified so that we can show the car with the doors opened – not everyone realised they were scissor doors!

The XJ220 Concept is now back on display in the Collection Centre at Gaydon with our Production car beside it so that visitors can see the differences.

Young William Lion

As announced on our Facebook page, the Trust has taken on a new apprentice to help with some of the educational programmes that we work on with the British Motor Museum and to interact with some of our younger visitors – Young William Lion.

He is suitably attired in Jaguar t-shirt and leather flying jacket – like his mentor – Tony Merrygold, and he also has the matching flying helmet and goggles for when he goes out driving.  We will send out regular Facebook posts to report on his progress and his adventures.
